The planner behind Lario Wedding International
My name is Althea, and I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Como, Italy. After earning my bachelor’s degree in Public and Corporate Communication, I moved to Australia in 2019 — ready to embrace new adventures and begin my career in marketing and events. Life unfolded in wonderful ways, until the world came to a halt during the pandemic. Being so far from home during that time was incredibly tough.
At the same time, my connection to home became even stronger, and I found myself returning to Como more often. Eventually, I made the decision to stay.
With my background in Marketing and Events, I’ve always loved creating meaningful experiences. But planning my own wedding from overseas ignited something deeper. I discovered a true passion for weddings - not just for the beauty of the day, but for the heartfelt meaning behind each moment.
Throughout the process, I also came face-to-face with the unique challenges international couples face when planning a destination wedding in Italy: language barriers, legal logistics, time zones, and cultural nuances. That experience inspired me to combine my passion, local knowledge, and professional skills into something meaningful for others.
And that’s how Lario Wedding International was born: a bespoke wedding planning service dedicated to helping couples from around the world create intentional, elegant weddings in Lake Como and across Italy.
