The planner behind Lario Wedding International

My name is Althea, and I was born and raised in the beautiful town of Como, Italy. After earning my bachelor’s degree in Public and Corporate Communication, I moved to Australia in 2019 - ready to embrace new adventures and begin my career in marketing and events. Life unfolded in wonderful ways, until the world came to a halt during the pandemic. Being so far from home during that time was incredibly tough.

Then I met Liam.

​

From our very first date, I sensed something special. I remember casually saying, “I’m going back home in December” - it was only September. Well… I never left.

​

Liam proposed, and together we planned our wedding in my hometown of Como, right by the lake where I grew up.

​

With my background in Marketing and Events, I’ve always loved creating meaningful experiences. But planning our wedding from overseas ignited something deeper. I discovered a true passion for weddings - not just for the beauty of the day, but for the heartfelt meaning behind each moment.

​

Throughout the process, I also came face-to-face with the unique challenges international couples face when planning a destination wedding in Italy: language barriers, legal logistics, time zones, and cultural nuances. That’s when Liam said, “Why not turn all of this - your passion, your local knowledge, your skills - into something that helps others?”

And that’s how Lario Wedding International was born: a bespoke wedding planning service dedicated to helping couples from around the world create intentional, elegant weddings in Lake Como and across Italy.
